BakePlan has been selected as a candidate for the Great New Idea competition at next month’s Foodex – and you can help us get to the final round.

The bi-annual Foodex event at Birmingham’s NEC is possibly the British food and drink sector’s biggest trade expo. It will be BakePlan’s first outing at a major industry show, so we’re pretty pleased to have been picked as an entrant to a competition that highlights innovation.

BakePlan is a unique planning and guidance system that cuts waste, increases sales and improves availability for supermarket in-store bakeries and food-to-go operations. It’s a cloud based application that tells staff the right combination of products to bake or make at the right times

Very few software products have been selected for the Great New Idea competition, which is actually rather gratifying. If you have supplied applications to the food industry as long as I have, there’s nothing better than to see your “virtual” kit jostling for position amongst the latest ovens and refrigeration units.

Foodex organisers are calling for visitors to the show, as well as other members of the industry, to vote for their favourite new idea via the Foodex website ahead of the event.

You can see the full list of Great New Idea entrants on the Foodex website here and, more importantly, you can vote for BakePlan here. A shortlist of three finalists will be chosen in accordance with the voting, and invited to present their entry to a panel of judges live at the show, who will then pick the champion.

If you are going to Foodex, you’ll be able to find us co-exhibiting with our sister brand Cybake on stand Y249. If you are involved with retailing fresh food that’s prepared on-premise, I can guarantee that BakePlan is a must-see. I hope to meet you there.
